At Aqua Fauna Ponds, we're always searching for koi that stop you in your tracks — fish that show exceptional quality at a young age and only get better with time. Our latest group of Goshiki Tosai from Aokiya Koi Farm is exactly that.
Why Aokiya Koi Farm?
Aokiya Koi Farm has built a reputation as one of the premier breeders of Goshiki in Japan. What sets Aokiya apart isn't just the quality of the fish — it's how quickly that quality reveals itself. Most breeders require three, four, or even five years for a Goshiki to develop deep, rich sumi (black pigmentation). Aokiya's fish achieve that same level of development in as little as five to six months.
That means when you purchase an Aokiya Goshiki Tosai, you're not waiting years to see the fish's true potential. You're getting a fish that already displays jet-black sumi and vibrant, deep red beni — at just 12 to 16 inches.
What Makes These Goshiki Special
- Early, deep sumi development: These Tosai are already nearly jet black with striking red beni — a level of color maturity that typically takes years to achieve with other breeders.
- Ideal size for smaller ponds: Aokiya is not known for producing the largest fish, which makes them a perfect fit for pond owners with limited space or collectors looking to add one or two exceptional specimens without overcrowding.
- Rare Doitsu (scaleless) Goshiki: Aokiya is one of the very few breeders in the world producing high-quality Doitsu Goshiki. Without scales, the beni lines appear clean and painterly — a truly unique look that becomes even more dramatic as the fish matures into a bold black-and-red animal.

Doitsu Goshiki: A Collector's Fish
The Doitsu Goshiki is exceptionally rare. Almost no other breeder produces them at this quality level. The absence of scales gives the fish a smooth, graphic appearance — clean beni lines against a darkening base. As these fish grow, they will deepen into stunning black-and-red specimens that are unlike anything else in a pond collection.
